Banks, customers and business partners expect transparent, auditable data. However, many companies struggle with manual processes, fragmented data sources and a lack of transparency. <strong>Yet much of the required ESG information has long been available in the SAP system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenge for efficient ESG reporting is not a lack of data, but <strong>systematically identifying this data, linking it correctly and evaluating it in accordance with regulations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:23px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why ESG reporting remains so complex<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Companies face considerable challenges when they have to report in accordance with <strong>ESRS reporting requirements<\/strong>. There are many reasons for this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scattered data sources:<\/strong> Information is located in different systems &#8211; often not even at subsidiary level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lack of transparency:<\/strong> It is often unclear where the relevant raw data can be found in the SAP system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Missing interfaces:<\/strong> ESG reporting tools do not know the necessary connections to the ERP landscape without specific mapping.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Complex KPIs:<\/strong> Many ESRS data points are composited, need to be consolidated, converted or enriched with external data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This leads to high manual effort, rising costs and uncertainties in data quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:23px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>An example from practice: Material use and sustainable procurement (ESRS E5)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ESRS E5<\/strong> (\u201cResource use and circular economy\u201d) requires companies to be transparent about which materials they use, how sustainably they are procured and what proportion is recyclable or organic.
