In this blog I want to describe possibilities of importing Microsoft® Excel files into ACL™, and offer tips for solving the problems that may occur. This import functionality is needed on an increasing scale in actual practice. An everyday example: We use ACL™ to conduct portfolio analyses in the context of credit financing for clients from the banking sector. Here different places deliver contract, payment and currency data in Microsoft Excel™ file format that have to be imported to ACL™ for reconciliation with other data.

The biggest German Audit conference will take place again in Dresden this year, on Thursday and Friday 8th and 9th of October 2015. For those of you visiting it for the first time, the location will be the “International Congress Centre Dresden”, Ostra Ufer 2, 01067 Dresden. For us, this conference is – speaking for Germany - one of the most important places to be, as a lot of our partners and customers will be there. In this blog post everything is about fields for date and time entries, and the DATETIME data type intended for this purpose. The latter has been in the functionality of ACL™ since version 10.0, offering numerous advantages that the DATE data type cannot give you in earlier versions.

Of late there has been hardly one week in which we were not asked if our dab:Exporter 3.0 data extraction software was compatible with SAP HANA®.

For 11 years now we have been offering digital data analytics by ACL™, and in this blog post I would like to tell you a few reasons why. Why is our choice ACL™? Of course it helps if you like to use the software you are working with (in our concrete case have even been selling since this year started). But must it really be ACL™. What about Microsoft Excel™ or Access™ or other data analytics tools like IDEA?
