Review of the webinar with Atlas Copco

A journey into the world of data analysis that was worthwhile.

Atlas Copco is a global industrial group that supplies customers in over 180 countries with products and solutions in the fields of compressor, industrial and construction technology. Developing and advancing (industrial) innovations that promise its customers high and sustainable productivity is part of the Atlas Copco Group's corporate vision and an integral part of its daily operations.

For Atlas Copco's Group Internal Audit and Assurance Department, it is obvious to enhance and innovate their audit processes on a technological level. In 2017 the Data Analytics implementation and expansion project was initiated to keep the core objectives of Internal Audit in line with growing data volumes and an international network of auditors.

In cooperation with Bizcon and dab: Daten - Analysen & Beratung GmbH and Galvanize's solutions, the first structures for data-based audits were set up in the company in 2017. It started with manual desktop applications and independent script development. In the following years, a continuous optimisation in the application and execution of the analyses can be observed. With the integration of a server-based Robotics solution and predefined questions, not only a growth in data capacity can be identified, but also the quality and security of the audit results are maximised through standardisation and comprehensive analysis content. Visualisations in Power BI dashboards and convenient sharing of results provide clarity for all auditors involved, departments to be audited and stakeholders.

Joris Cuppens, Internal Auditor, gave us a detailed insight into the personal milestones and added value that Atlas Copco Internal Audit has been able to generate by using automated data analysis. However, the end of their journey is not yet reached at this point, after all, there are still ways and possibilities open to further exploit the degree of automation and to constantly increase the efficiency of the audit work.

We are very pleased that we had such a high number of participants already live in the webinar.

For all those who were unable to attend the webinar in person, we have recorded the webinar as usual. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
