New functionality in dab:Exporter Version 3 – Privacy Protection

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog post about the need for data privacy and data protection. My point was, that there might be legal requirements, that have to be taken in to concern, but it is your own interest to go beyond that.

In Germany there is the law about data privacy (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz); it contains a big part which is about protecting employees data (BDSG § 32). But there is more than employees data you also might want to protect, just to mention some:

  • Bill of materials
  • Purchase price
  • Sales prices and conditions
  • Customer- and Vendordata

Especially when data gets extracted and saved on external media like USB sticks or external hard disks, the built-in data security methods like a proper authorization concept, firewalls and the company network in general do not work anymore. Because of that it should always be considered, if data should be made anonymous or encrypted during export.

The following features provides an overview about the data privacy features, which our tool dab:Exporter offers. The video contains a spoken commentary as well as subtitles.

Should you prefer an interactive presentation, just klick on this link here. It allows you to browse through the features on your own, however without voice or subtitles.

In case you missed the dab:Exporter Version 3 Feature Highlights which we already introduced, you can look them up here again: Feature Highlights dab:Exporter Version 3.
